Thanks to you, in the past 18 months we have provided 250 laptops to students in need.
The green laptop in the picture below has the code "RAYTF-250" written on the bottom of it. That is a huge milestone because it means that 250 more students can do their homework. 250 more students can do group-work with their peers and not have make up excuses to avoid the shame of admitting they don't have a computer at home. 250 more students have the opportunity to succeed in high school and beyond, thanks to you.
Coronavirus and working from home.
The Rochester Area Youth Tech Foundation is working with Rochester Public Schools to provide laptops to students who do not currently have access to technology at home, in an effort to mitigate educational disruptions for these students.
We are hoping to collect 250 more laptops, wipe the hard drives, and convert them to Chromebooks for students who do not have access to a computer at home.
If you have unused laptops in your offices or at home that you would be willing to contribute to this effort, please bring them to the following locations:
- RPS Technology Support Services, 3018 40th Ave NW, Rochester, MN 55901 - M-F 7:30am - 4:30pm
- Rochester Downtown Alliance, M-F 8am – 5pm
The computers should be from the year 2000 or later. They should be in relatively good working order and have a power cord. Older batteries are acceptable as long as the power cord functions.
